Theodore Roosevelt, Twenty-Sixth President of the United States
President Roosevelt served from 1901-1909. This year, my eldest daughter is studying American Government and Economics. I was reading her textbook and came across this very interesting quote from our twenty-sixth president:
Americanism means the virtues of courage, honor, justice, truth, sincerity
and hardihood -- the virtues that made America. The things that will
destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first
instead of duty-first, the love-of-soft-living, and the get-rich-quick theory of
life.
Could Roosevelt see the future?
